The Lacombe Culture and Harvest Festival is this weekend! Sept 28-30.
To see all the events - and there are a lot of them, then visit Heart of Lacombe.
We have several events going on that weekend.
Both the Flatiron and the Michener House will be open from 9-5 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As always, these venues are free. You haven't seen Lacombe until you've visited these two important historic sites. Did you know that a Governor General of Canada was born in this town?
We will have FREE walking tours of the murals and the downtown core. These will happen daily at 10:30 to 11:30. Meet at the Michener House and our lovely escort will take you around town and show you the beautiful murals of Tim Giles, and tell about the histories of our hundred year old buildings that still house active businesses. Did you know that horses used to walk up to the bar and order a beer? It was indeed the wild west.
On Friday we have a Dairy Farm Tour from 2-5. This event does require tickets at $10 a person, $5 16 and under. We will meet at the Flatiron museum where you will receive a friendly guided tour of the display "A History of Dairy Farming" and then we'll board a bus to Nielson Dairy Farm where we will learn about modern dairy procedures and how milk products get from the cow to your table, because milking a cow in your kitchen is never a good idea.
On Saturday from 11-2 come for a live Blacksmithing and Horseshoeing Demonstration. Yes, we will have a live horse who has consented to allow the public demonstration of acquiring shoes. And as always with our blacksmithing demos there will be fire, sparks, steam and loud noises. Kids will love this because it's got fire, sparks, steam and loud noises.
Looking forward to seeing you.
