The Lacombe and District Historical Society invites you to their upcoming Annual General Meeting at 7 PM on Thursday March 31, 2016 at the Flatiron Museum located at 5005 - 50 Avenue, Lacombe. Join the historical society and help preserve local history. Volunteers have the opportunity to help in many ways such as in the archives, at the Blacksmith Shop, and at fun community events! The Historical Society is also recruiting for new Board members in the positions of Director and Secretary. Job Title: Visitor Services Officer
Start Date: May 1, 2016 to August 31, 2016
Schedule: 7 hours per day, 5 days a week. Candidates must be available to work weekends.
Job Description: The Visitor Service Officer assists the Lacombe & District Historical Society to deliver on-going cultural and tourism services and host special events during local Festivals at the Museums in Lacombe. Their duties include; welcoming and providing local tourism information to visitors, delivering guided tours and programs, creating and updating online content, and working in the archives.
Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of the Young Canada Works Student/ Canada Summer job programs. Ideal candidates include post-secondary students pursuing studies in a related field and/or wanting to pursue a career in the cultural, tourism and/or non-profit sectors. Strong computer and communications skills are required.
Due to the historic nature of our buildings, access to these buildings is limited and not wheel chair accessible. Ability to do some lifting is also required.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Applications will be received until the position is filled. Up to a maximum of 5 visitor services officers will be hired for the 2016 summer season depending on grants received by the society.
